River Street sits above South Yarra, close to the river and within the industrial edge of the neighbourhood. The project takes its character from both conditions: the weight and texture of River Street, and the softer, shifting qualities of the river landscape nearby.

Three residences are stacked vertically, each occupying its own level and each planned differently. Rather than repeating a typical apartment arrangement, the building reads as three individual houses held within one form.

The interior palette takes its cue from Monet’s studies of water, particularly the way deep greens, muted blues and reflected light shift across the surface of a river.
